Am reading up on the various tastes and what ayurveda says about their effects.
On the sweet taste: though it helps the hyper-active vata and the competitive, fiery pitta, it can worsen kapha (the heavy-set people) making them more lethargic. And all this is gobble-degook, I can make it simple for you and say that too much can invite diseases since bacteria flourishes in a sweet environment. So also worms etc...So watch that sugar!
