ANSWER: Asana wakes up the lethargic mind. Pranayama like kapalabhati too freshens u up from sleepiness. For most meditators the biggest problem is sleepiness. This happens because the brainwave pattern changes in meditation from beta to delta. A good meditator can hold the brainwave pattern in alpha mode. But this is not a matter of choice but may take years of practice and focus. Till then using tricks like asana to prevent falling asleep is
best.

Meditation is passive - you detach yourself and want to think about nothing... Visualisation is active- you paint a picture in your mind and try to feel it.
