Mumbai blog back:)

Ha, am back at myMumbai blog(with unabashed love called Mumbai meri jaan:) ... that spate of lethargy having been burned away, am back to writing about my beloved city.

(Trust by Lorenzo Quinn: an artists whose `hands' tell the deepest things about love:)
This is just a peek at the  visiting European contemporary art masters, and bemoaning how Mumbai media (barring Time-out and Mid-day)  completely bypass all interesting events in the city because they will only cover events which pay them money for PR. The other day a Belgian student wanted to know how she can keep track of events happening in the city (can u imagine that, she has no clue because there is no media coverage whatsover!!). In any other world city you will look to the media -- but hey, not in Mumbai. We eat, love, pray to Bollywood and the rest of the crap media (Big Boss!) shoves down our throat. And art and culture, be damned.

World as illusion: science speak

But our experience of a stable outside world is a consistent illusion that the brain creates. It is an illusion that has been `designed' long before we arrived on earth, for the purpose of biological survival. The illusion begins at the first neuron. Our senses grab only a little of reality; the eye takes in a trillionth of the energy which reaches it, the ear similarly. So, our experience of the world as stable is so because of the way the brain is organized, not because of the way the world is.

From The Healing Brain, by Robert Ornstein and David Sobel.

DHYAN GYAN: silent yogi

Maharishi says

Wanting to reform the world without discovering one's true self is like trying to cover the world with leather to avoid the pain of walking on stones and thorns. It is much simpler to wear shoes.

It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell. Buddha
