I would love to know the answer to this! I love all your posts on kids-they give a great insight on how to pass on the joy of yoga to the young ones without being too imposing! :-)
Meditation is good for kids. But unlike adults who chose to meditate, kids are often forced into it (as it is `good for them') and may resist it mentally even if sitting still and shutting their eyes! And may grow up to hate the need for it... So, if doing meditation for kids do happy visualisations that trains the mind to stay in focus. There are beautiful transcriptions in the Yoga Education for Children, as well in the Yoga Nidra (books by the Bihar School of Yoga). These make the kids happy. And they learn to love being still and focusing their mind -- dharana -- which will create a craving later for true dhyana or meditation.
