If you are doing the wheel variation u will find that unless u learn to keep your hands straight, you will not be able to push up into single leg/hand lifts. That is because the body knows that you are stiff at the upper back which needs to be supple to take the shift in weight as happens in a variation.
So move your awareness towards the arms -- trying to straighten them. Initially, for most people this may seem rather tough. But constantly trying this creates what is called the transition phase, in any learning -- suddenly there is a leap towards the goal that needed to be reached:)
