Why is retention such an important part of pranayama ..
Again, the Bihar school brings clarity to this --
* Patanjali rishi -- who refers to actual asana/kriya practice only in four verses -- says in one of his rare refererences that retention is actually pranayama
* during retention is when 1) greater assimilation of prana (life force) takes place 2) more time for exchange of gases 3) it is with this tool that prana and consciousness may be separated.
That is very exciting is it not? To separate something -- like in an atomic station, where the fission is done to separate particles?Maybe somewhat like trying to locate the god particle (Boson) particle by the scientist!!!!
That is very exciting, for those who are spiritual..
