Living in a state of awareness; THE ELEMENTS IN YOUR BODY

It is an exciting phase in my life. After having run around on skates, yes, even after becoming a yoga teacher, I suddenly feel that I must "retire", hang up the skates, and enjoy vanaprastham (retirement to a life of organic living in the forest, and the fourth stage in Indian philosophical living).
So part of this, which seems to have happened on its own, after having had yoga for so long in my life, is that I am just aware of myself in the third person quite a bit. When this happens initially, it is very disconcerting because it happens after you dumped a sense of yourself that has dominated all your life, whatever its value up that point.

So, though I had owned the book Tattwa shuddhi (by the Bihar school of yoga) lately I am more alert to how the elements flow, and how my mood shifts, so that I am so many things rather than what I imagine myself to me. It is pretty exciting, though it has come late. But if you understand the sense of the living in the present, it does not matter really how late it came, because the idea of time becomes redundant in this very zen place.

And part of this awareness is to be alert to the flow of elements and their different energies in your body.  So, you are actually not this rushy air (that you define and feel yourself to be) but somewhere split up into all these different things.

Here is what the master Harish Johari say about the elements'power:

EARTH:  When it flows it helps growth of nail, hair, bone, flesh, skin and energy channels. When it is disturbed you could be afflicted by mental problems, phobias, jaundice.

HELPS: WITH SUCCESS IN LIFE, EARNING WEALTH, ENJOYING OTHERS COMPANY, FARMING ACTIVITIES.

Best, during daytime.

Body requirement: Stationary.


WATER: Its connected to flow of urogenital fluids, mucus, saliva, lymphatic fluids, blood. And their health. EMOTIONAL DISORDERS when this element is out of sync.

HELPS: With creativity.

Best, during night.

Body requirement: Movement.

FIRE: Connected to hunger, thirst, sleep, lethargy, radiance connected with this. When disturbed it causes anger, stomach ailments, body swelling,

HELPS: DESTRUCTIVE ACTIVITY  may be achieved with success when this element flows.

AIR: Disorders - heart, high blood pressure, pessimism, depression, loneliness, stress. Skin dryness, skin diseases, nervous system problems.


AKASHA: NOT GOOD TO DO WORLDLY ACTIVITIES -- only yoga sadhana.

When dominant, love, enmity, shyness, fear and attachment become evident. When akasha is flowing it ruins all attempts.
