Yesterday's answer, today's query

ANSWER: Cat stretch. Most people, including yoga instructors, act as if the headstand is the trouble pose.. meaning, they blame it for a lot of stupid things that get done in the class. But the headstand, once u learn to stick to the technique, is a safe pose. Other poses can be quite awkward... imagine the cat stretch as contraindicated!

QUESTION: When u lift the head up -- as in most poses -- do you inhale or exhale? (Hey, most instructors themselves don't know. They get by, because awareness levels are so pathetic that anything tagged yoga is passed off as serious stuff:!)

The usual practice is inhaling when lifting up and exhaling when bending down. I have seen this instruction mentioned for surya namaskar.
